Recycling Beverage Containers

The Reserve Vending Machines (RVMs) for recycling plastic beverage bottles have been introducing at our managed properties since Nov 2018. Over 780,000 plastic beverage bottles have been collected through the RVMs, translating into a carbon emission reduction of 189,000 kg, saving the equivalent of 8,200 trees that would have been required to offset these emissions.

Recently, we have introduced 10 units of upgraded version RVMs at our managed properties which can recycle both plastic beverage bottles and aluminum cans. This RVM provides an instant rebate (HK$0.1 per container) via Octopus to encourage everyone to return the used plastic beverage bottles and aluminum cans.

In addition, we have added beverage cartons recycling bins at some of our managed properties since Apr 2020. Basically, the beverage cartons are made of paper, plastic and aluminum. All materials are recyclable.
