62 Sino Group properties receive good housekeeping certificates

The Occupational Safety & Health Council (OSHC) recently recognised sixty-two Sino managed properties for good housekeeping practices in the "Good Housekeeping Competition 2008-09". The competition aims to promote the benefits of implementing the "5S" practices in the workplace to enhance productivity and help to raise employees' sense of belonging. OSHC also granted the "Award for Active Participation" to Sino Property Services (SPS) for its efforts in raising staff awareness of occupational safety. The Sino Safety Academy is the most significant of the company's many occupational safety initiatives. Programmes are tailored to train staff of all levels in job-related safety measures. SPS also employs a Safety Manager to develop and teach certified courses, such as the "Construction Industry Safety Training Certificate ("Green Card") Course". SPS is also the first in the industry to be recognised by the Labour Department for running its own Green Card Course, the graduates of which receive the cards free of charge. Apart from the syllabus mandated by the law, it also covers practical safety measures specifically for property management, security, cleaning and parking services. Another advanced course is the "42-hour Safety Supervisor Training Course". Targeting engineers and technicians, the course focuses on safety awareness in everyday work, on-site inspections and training. Two hundred staff from the maintenance division will be trained yearly.
