Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Perfect Wash
Tailor First RFID Tracking and Monitoring System for F & B Industry

Perfect Green Supplies Company Limited (‘Perfect Green’), the one-stop-shop hygiene service arm of Sino Property Services, announces its collaboration with Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (‘PolyU’) on the development of the first Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Tracking and Monitoring System tailored for the food and beverage (F & B) industry.

Through the proprietary system, a RFID tag is assigned to each dish container, and information is instantly fed to the system as the container passes through RFID readers built at strategic check points, from pick-up to transport and from dishwashing to warehousing, putting all essential information at the fingertips. Automatic alerts are generated at different stages of the process, enabling better logistics planning; additionally, prioritisation of a particular batch is possible to cater to the actual traffic and specific needs.

‘The RFID Tracking and Monitoring System is our solution to cater to customers’ needs for professional and reliable dishwashing services,’ notes Mr Terence Ng, Director of Perfect Green. ‘Tailored for the F & B industry, it addresses the logistical challenges of our customers to achieve an undisrupted supply of clean and hygienic tableware. The system can be integrated with the supply chain management system of our customers for holistic logistics planning.’

‘We are delighted to work with Perfect Wash on the development of the first RFID Tracking and Monitoring System tailored for the F & B industry. RFID uses radio waves to automatically identify multiple physical objects without the line-of-sight interaction. Being heat resistant and waterproofing, RFID is appropriate for the application. We believe that the new system can bring new experiences for the F & B industry,’ remarks Dr Ka-Man Lee, Assistant Professor, Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering of PolyU.

The proprietary system is undergoing customisation at the Perfect Wash Dishwashing and Sterilisation Service Centre and is expected to be in operation this year.
